True, but how is he tied with Hillary in the polls? Have half the electorate really gone kookoo ?
Are they so desperate for someone new they will ignore everything he says ?

It doesn't matter to his supporters that Donald Trump lies to them. Most of his supporters aren't interested in facts and ignore the danger Trump presents to this country - they are driven by hatred of Hillary Clinton, witness their recent hate-filled national convention. A "successful" despot has to create a boogeyman to rile up their supporters.
