I'd rather have a i7-6700K. Plenty enough threads and superior single-threaded performance.
For most consumers, agreed.
I think these multicore monsters will do well with folks who do game streaming, though. Apparently running games + streaming via Twitch actually benefits from a bunch of cores.
That said, mainstream GPUs will soon all have HEVC encode right in the hardware so that could reduce the burden on the CPU for such tasks. Anyway, we shall see.
As an Intel stockholder I love to see Intel finding more ways to sell people on more expensive silicon :)
