Why the asterisk? Because that "finalized" number is based upon Hillary's emails that did not include any of the 32,000 messages she and her lawyers unilaterally deleted with no oversight. She has claimed that all of the emails she failed to produce were unrelated to official business. We know for a fact that this is not true, based on emails discovered by the Pentagon, as well as work-related missives that turned up when Sidney Blumethal's private emails were hacked. So she lied about that, as she's lied about so many things pertaining to this national security-compromising scandal. That (important) caveat aside, the State Department has determined that more than 2,000 emails on Mrs. Clinton's unsecure, improper server were classified. Many of these emails were low-level and retroactively classified, still a far cry from her categorical, false "there is no classified material" assertion last March. But there were dozens of emails designated as secret, top secret and even above top secret -- allegedly covering extremely sensitive topics from the Iran nuclear negotiations, to North Korean nuclear weapons, to the identities of foreign nationals on the CIA's payroll. WASHINGTON — Hillary Clinton personally wrote 104 emails that have now been deemed classified, according to the first full analysis of her private-server correspondence.
The Washington Post reported Sunday that a review of 2,093 emails the State Department says contained classified information found Clinton generated classified material in the body of 104 messages transmitted on her personal server, which is now the subject of a federal probe.
The rest of the classified emails were written by 298 other people inside and outside of government, showing how commonly Clinton and her allies used her nonsecure homebrew system to send sensitive information, the Washington Post found
More than 15 percent of the latest batch of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails released Saturday contain classified information, with three of the messages being labeled “secret” — continuing to add to the questions surrounding her email use.
One of the messages is an extensive missive from David Satterfield, a top U.S. diplomat to Egypt, who told top officials in the White House and the State Department about negotiations in the Sinai. The entire contents of the messages are now deemed “secret,” though there is no indication they were marked as such at the time. The message was forwarded to Mrs. Clinton by top aide Jacob Sullivan.
The other two secret messages were versions of messages that had been released in earlier batches.
