I know what it means, buddy
It means that edigital did not put enough forethought into their design for the O1k before releasing it to the general public. If not being able to alter a playlist on the fly is a negative for users, then it should have been remedied before it was shipped for sale. Being able to correct the flaw with a firmware update is small consolation, in my mind, to the person who bought one and desires this feature. Whether or not it is a typical dedicated ASIC system is not of interest to me NOR will it be to the potential buyer who is comparing features for a jukebox purchase.
The problem(s) that I've observed with this and other edigital electronic offerings is that they are not well researched for user-ability. This is not the first or only complaint of its kind to be lodged about their products. It seems that they beta test with shareholders and real-world consumers instead of doing the research within the confines of a private group of users. This has the effect of carrying the flaws over to reviewers, who quite naturally pan the product, as the tech TV people did.
