Did pretty well between 1940 and 1970. Though anyone that knows or is truthful would say Bernie or any President between that time is not a Socialist. Kind of like its hard to take anyone serious that calls Obama a socialist. The same man backed by Jamie Dimon and beholden to wall street. I would also say that Germany and there economy would argue the same. They seemed to have taken our way of doing things before Reagan and improved on it. They don't buy from China. They make it their selves and sell it to china. Of course we also know Germany is not a socialist country. This is what 30 years of propaganda gets you.
