Reading in the comments of tis article, the subject of PM confiscation came up again. FDRs anti-hoarding efforts were attempts to stabilize banks, and encourage people to keep their wealth in banks so they could lend and thereby create money as they do. Negative interest rates encourage the opposite of this, in the form of investing in the stock market, PM, or other assets...anything but sit on cash in the bank. Last article I forwarded suggested we would see some attempts to stimulate spending buy Americans in the near future. Could NIRP be the beginnings of these attempts? I am no means a financial know-it-all, it just seems like I am able to determine my own financial future less and less these days.
