I agree with Aqua. But to your point, college is necessary for those that are fields that require specific talents such as engineering, medical, etc. But for many in social services etc it is a joke. Huge debts and very little employment opportunities that will provide a livable wage.
I will give you an example close to me, although not in the social services field. A young lady graduated from law school recently and had to take a job in her field which now pays $36,000 a year. She graduated in debt to the tune of $200,000. Not too pretty of a picture is it. Meanwhile local high school graduates working in a local factory are earning as much as $80 to $100,000 a year.
