I've already told you this story, but for me it was after I lost my job.

That's when I felt the closest to the Lord.

We were talking about this in Sunday school a few years ago. Mountains are great. We need those experiences to help keep us boosted, to lift us up.

But it's in the valley that we do the growing. There isn't a whole lot of growth on mountain tops. We grow when we're in the valley.

We're also lonely sometimes when we're on the mountain top. We're usually there alone. When we're in the valley, we're with everyone else, others who have gone through the same thing we are, and those who can help us through whatever it is we're going through.

PAIN is the touchstone of spiritual progress! Pain turns into suffering when we don't learn from the painful experience and continue with the behavior that caused the pain in the first place. I think you might not understand the difference between pain and suffering.
