Augie, to really be meaningful, these graph should have competing "safe returns", namely treasuries (I would take the 10 years and divide 100 by the nominal interest rate to get a value comparable to the P/E of treasuries and plot them with PE and prices for S&P...that might tell you that current PR may not be so outrageous after all.
