callipygian!!! My hearing stinks...

Thank you. That was driving me nuts this week and this time I am writing it down. I miss the early 60s... subtlety instead of all this in your face stuff.

Elementary school in the 50s... jr. high and sr. high in the 60s... same emphasis... same discipline... no nonsense. The hell with our little fragile egos. I was the high school class of '69... the last class in our township to have a dress code... skirts and dresses for the girls... no jeans for the boys. IMO when the dress code went so did the public school system.

I started Michigan when the opportunity awards (a.k.a. affirmative action) program began... theory was great... take the brightest and the best from impoverished backgrounds, bring them up to speed, then let them go back and teach their people... failed in two respects. They never pushed them to raise their standards... just lowered ours and once they were out... they weren't going back. Don't blame them for that one. I would have gotten the hell out too.

Killed my motivation and worked to my advantage... switched from math to English. Loved classes was tired of studying, but what idiot couldn't read books and write book reports. Hell... I could spell. English major in a nutshell. The only interesting part was that because Michigan was such a big psych school... most books were studied looking to see if the characters had sufficient psychological motivation to appear real. After a while I lost interest in fiction. Half the time the characters lose credibility plus which I led a life in NY that was more interesting to me than the made up stuff I was reading.

I tend to stick with nonfiction these days... though lately I only seem to find time for the newspapers... fiction presented as fact.

Managed to stack wood for an hour once I got the work boots on... ow ow ow. When I smacked my head harder than usual on the door frame I knew I was time to quit. Home Depot run first thing this morning... sick of the inherited sheers in the family room... going to replace them with mini blinds. I hate curtains... too confining. I like clean lines.

Have a good one... and thanks again for callipygian... no wonder I could not find it in the dictionary... LOL

P.S. Glad to hear you got the front yard under control.

Now for your "back forty." When you're done feel free to stop by and tackle my small but steeply pitched front yard. ;-) I'm still not feeling sure footed enough to do that one. Wood stacking is the limit to this weekend's OUTDR adventure.

Good luck with the rain and feel free to send a little up to NJ. We're drying out again.
