Interesting point on cash and R&D/growth, I agree on the revenues and losing market share.
From personal experience and talking with others, it seems many are trending away from iphone to other products. Now these are the people/consumers/customers that have been quoted as "loyal users". I believe that is a big part of Apples success. So yes, I agree with your theory.
