Is ANAD in the food chain ? If wireless has a future would not some of the smaller suppliers participate, and isn't it easier to double nothing?

MJK,

Yes, but aren't these other company's on the licensing roster? And if they are or not isn't it still to be seen if whether or not they can break away with their own versions (that work, not vaporware)?. And at this point in time do any of these company's not use some part of QCOM's IPR? As long as QCOM holds patents and others have to use some part of their IPR they will be in the drivers seat, no? I do not expect them to get 100% of everything to do with this technology, but the lions share for sure.

Also the take up of WCDMA is so slow and so expensive to implement it is more than likely going to be a while before we see anything from that end of the technology. The path is not backward compatible like CDMAone where a simple upgrade is all that is needed. With the WCDMA path the whole infra needs to be changed everytime an upgrade is to occur because it lacks backward compatibility. Now if the leap for GSM is straight to WCDMA then that's another story, but it is my understanding we are near or at GPRS, then EDGE and then WCDMA is to occur. This will be a long drawn out process in my opinion mainly because NOK (in particular) and others are in no hurry to turn the key to the city over to QCOM. As you said, we will see because nothing can be taken for granted.
