Cowen & Co expects most of their earnings-driven Biotech companies to post strong Q2 results. Firm's favorite names to beat consensus include AMGN, BIIB, CEPH, DNA, GILD, ILMN and VPHM. They think results for GENZ, ICOS, IMCL, MEDI and UTHR should be at least in line with expectations. They also believe some caution is warranted on Q2 expectations for CIPH, CVTX, NTMD, and TRCA. In addition, firm says the life sciences/tools sector continues to be touch and go. Firm's analysis of prior biotech bear markets indicates that larger, earnings-driven companies typically outperform during tough times and usually lead the sector during the early days of a rally.
