This question wasn't asked of me, but I will comment in part in fear of what answer you will get otherwise from the poster you asked.
I don't think Tmmi has had 12-18 months for discovery. You will recall that the defendants' first approach was to close down the lawsuit by asserting the statute of limitations. Initial discovery appears to have been limited to facts around that assertion.
Discovery was later expanded, and this had been contested, unsuccessfully. Also, there was a countersuit launched, and a party was added (yes, I know, nominally). The added party only recently added counsel to act. Weeks ago.
There are quite a number of parties to discover. It should be expected to take a few months. It's not surprising to me at least that discovery wasn't possible to finish by the end of this year. I would expect it to complete by spring 2016, and well before the scheduled start of trial.
Assuming a day to discover each party, on both sides, plus the nominal party, I think it's a matter of finding at least a couple months worth of days that work for everyone.... Provided everyone is cooperative.
