Spaarky seems to have forgotten that the chipset shortage started more than a year before the pick up in sales for AMD. In addition, IIRC, the shortage first showed up for notebooks.

No, Spaarky hasn't fogotten, you're wrong on the timing. Your own claim was that AMD didn't take off in retail until Q2 '05. That's roughly when the chipset shortage mumblings surfaced, and a quarter before Intel stated they were allocating capacity to notebook chisets to protect margins.

Anyway, you said "nothing else changed" and I provided a counterpoint. Lots of things changed, competitiveness and chipset supply issues being two of the bigger ones. If your claim is true, that the lawsuit is the 'reason', I think we'll soon see Intel's US retail market share back to it's normal range. What will be your repsonse if that happens?
