Actually, in 2014 there was a dual agent (aspirin with Plavix, Effient or Ticlid) trial that did show that using the dual drug scheme past 12 months helped prevent stent thrombosis and other cardiovascular events but the death rate went up which was clearly worse.
I would think if you have a successful procedure Plavix's use would be limited. 12 - 18 months would be the norm.
