no, you are incapable of understanding the proper use of backfire terminology versus burnout, not surprising when you probably got your education about wildfires from a bugs bunny cartoon.

here is a hint since you wish to make even a bigger fool of yourself: the permission to perform both activities has to come from higher up than a crew boss. in the incident command system, a burnout is authorized by a division/group supervisor directly, but a backfire requires a spot weather forecast to be performed by a qualified fire behavior analyst, as windflow is the key for a a backfire. they are not the same thing. one is used to manage windflow and draft in addition to fuel consumption, and the other, burnout, is used to just remove fuels in the path of the fire in a routine situation. But hey, ignorance is bliss, eh, smart guy?
