A few things on this subject
1. No, I don't think there will be an attack. It would surprise me extremely.
2. Yes there is a bit of a higher short interest lately but not high enough in any way to speculate about a short attack IMO. I think it's clearly some guys who put on a short because of the overall china situation. That said I don't like VNDM and BMAK being on the ask constantely in the last few months. At least one of them has always been selling. Today they are not active though.
3. Regarding brokers who let you short the OTC. There are a few, IB, Suretrader and a couple of others. True, the "normal" US brokers like Etrade or Ameritrade won't let you short or usually don't have any shares to borrow anyway. The thing is if you want to go for an attack and you wanna short heavily, you could always and easily go with an off shore broker who will let you short as many as you want without a problem. Then again our short interest is not high by any means so the only possibility would be naked shorts which do not show up on the short interest number IMO. Unlikely.
4. Yes, no puts is certainly an argument we all always made in the past but then again we just saw an OTC biotech get attacked heavily and that stock didn't have any puts available either. I was surprised by this but I wouldn't compare their situation to SIAF's in any way.
5. Regarding the insurance money issue. Can't comment since I have no clue about it.
6. All in all I think it's very unlikely that a short attack will hit and even if there would be, Fredrik wouldn't let this just play out. I'm confident they would react fast and furious. Still, never say never.
