The point wasn't if it was a success or failure. The point of your trusted associate's comments (now a sticky) was that there was little risk in doing the testing.
I think there was significant risk and i believe much of the drop in SP since is due to the lack of confidence in the PLATFORM as well as the lack of confidence in the claims of rapid response and development.
