Agreed. Depending on how tight the tolerances are and the manufacturer's experience with similar parts mods/reworks could occur quite frequently...especially with first run lots.

The company I worked at is a $4B NYSE traded aerospace company that is really an engineering company which outsources most of its manufacturing and mods/reworks occurred fairly regularly unfortunately.

As the manufacturer becomes more and more familiar with the parts and tolerances they should happen less and less.

If there is a flaw in materials, the flaw is likely in the CSRV valve system, not the engine or generator. At this late date, GC will not announce such a flaw in his CSRV valve system, even if that is the case.

It is likely that Coates did not produce their CSRV prototype in their own shop without materials from outside suppliers and that a supplier has not met the design specs. This must be driving GC up a wall. Of course, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Again GC is not going to release any negative PR about his product. Just hope the next PR does not have to be read through rose colored glasses.
