Mas, Kept prices relatively high but shifting down a bit, reduce P4 production, and slot NGMA in at the higher prices when it arrives moving P4 down normally and orderly. This is all-out kamakaze stuff gunning for marketshare which is not risk free, great for consumers but probably not so hot for Intel or AMD in the short term.
There's precedence for this "kamakaze stuff," and almost every single time it has turned out better for Intel than for AMD.
By the way, I'm not fond of the marketing experts who think Intel ought to take steps to slow the tide of commoditization. You remind me of one of them.
