OT: That's good advice, Lee. There's surely almost always a crisis going on somewhere, but the best traders never get caught up in the emotions of the time, but just try to remain reasonable. I actually don't worry that much, except about improving my trading. There's always the probability that the whole system might collapse, but I put that at a pretty low level.
My concern in that post was that people come to depend on the government to make investments in them with no corresponding investment by the individual. To my way of thinking, if you do that, you're just asking for the government to dictate the curriculum of educational institutions, when what you should really look for in education is skills that add value to your human capital, not skills that fulfill the requirements of a government mandate. Unless, of course, you want to train for a government job.
