I agree that the biggest hindrance to a significant breakout in gold has been the presence of investment choices that appear to be attractive and are better known and understood - primarily stocks, bonds and real estate. When those alternative investments begin to lose their attractiveness (and I believe they will), folks will start taking a closer look at gold.
