My belief, which may be wrong, is that someone with a large long position bought them as insurance in case something unexpected goes wrong. I am long this stock and have been for too many years but believe it will be sold this year. I am ready to move on.
I commented on your post as jp's question was earnest and a good discussion point for the board. You initial comment I thought trite and disregarding of the complexity of the sentiment that option volumes and OI can indicate.
