#279 RE: midas98 #273

There are many very critical specifications amd components required in building any atomic device, dirty or clean.

Different exotic alloys are required to encase or build the the mechanisms, and those components in many cases need very special alloy welding rods and fluxes to permit final assembly. My friend, Dr. Cross, used to design those rods and fluxes. Once a piece is machined from the correct material you could bury it in the sand for 50 years and it would be as good as new once cleaned and polished. Likewise, a solid state circuit board stored in a ZipLok bag inside a foot locker buried in the sand would be equally effective if assembled into a bomb correctly.

Iraq will yeild it's secrets one day at a time, over the years - like a peeling onion.

We did the right thing, at the right time - which beats having the limpo's whinig over a smoking hole in downtown Chicago, etc., over a graphic reason for it.

John :-)
