Pieces coming together. I'm sure Nasdaq wanted to know a little more about their independence and qualifications. OK for now but I'd like to see some heft our our board in the future. Other investors, serious and institutional, will too.
All three Independent BOD's announced today are members of Leo's Synagogue. -TheHound
I don't see any nexus with Mark Tobin, MBA who lives and works in California, not Florida. So only two of the three.
Dr Barry Schecter., whom we already knew about, and Dr Zorik Spektor, MD are indeed respected members of a community that Leo is active in. This would give Leo ample opportunity to be familiar with their character and ethics, and lay a foundation of trust.
I don't see any problem with Leo Ehrlich recruiting a second esteemed doctor from a community he is familiar with, comfortable with, and trusts. Leo's large charitable gift to the synagogue demonstrated he is an active and supportive member. Alternatively, I suppose Leo could have recruited from his country club or people he knew in the business world. I'm not sure how that would be better.
Or he could have approached bigger 'names', with which he was otherwise unfamiliar to pad the board, but the risk there is they may prove too independent. I don't think the intention is to build CTIX into a big pharma, or for Mr Ehrlich and Dr Menon to risk losing control of the company. The share structure already demonstrates this.
These appointments are in order to up-list to the NASDAQ. Real value for this company will come as the science proves out, and the resulting partnerships and buy-outs. Plus these Board of Director appointments are respectable and qualified people. Their resumes look good. I like the choices. They can be trusted to act responsibly.
For me the important factor is the NASDAQ up-listing and the improved corporate governance. I really didn't expect, nor wanted a BOD that might go maverick against the CEO or President, and possibly oppose them. This is Leo Ehrlich and Dr Menon's show, they've done a great job and the real value is in the progression of the science. I prefer that there are shared values, shared community, and a basis of personal trust outside of the business world on the Board of Directors, while still qualifying for independence.
