if you are running anything less than windows xp professional, upgrade to that. windows xp pro, with both service packs and all upgrades, is the best. i did, using same old bucket of bolts and tie wires here, and the difference is remarkable. i've even networked my wife's puter using it and a wireless router. xp pro upgrade runs about $200, the full edition ~ $300. hope this helps.
