2000's What a difference a year makes. Jet plays their first L.A. concert. Just 50 people show up. Exactly one year later, the group plays two sold out L.A. shows at the legendary Wiltern theater. 2003/2004

Vince Neil pleads no contest to battery charges stemming from an '03 incident in which the former Mötley Crüe frontman allegedly assaulted a prostitute at a legal Nevada brothel. The judge gives Neil a 30-day suspended jail sentence, orders him to complete anger-management sessions and fines him $1,000. 2004

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash performs the U.S. and Canadian national anthems at the Toronto Blue Jays' home opener against the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox. 2005

The Rolling Stones perform their first-ever concert in China. The Shanghai concert comes three years after the group canceled two shows in the country because of the SARS epidemic. However, the Stones are asked by Chinese censors to exclude certain tunes from their set list. The songs deemed too racy for Chinese audiences include: "Beast Of Burden," "Brown Sugar," "Honky Tonk Women" and "Let's Spend The Night Together." 2006

Malcolm McLaren, the former Sex Pistols manager, dies in New York. “He had been suffering from cancer for some time, but recently had been full of health, which then rapidly deteriorated,” says McLaren’s spokesman. McLaren recruited three local kids who frequented his Kings Road boutique “Sex” and dubbed them the “Sex Pistols.” He “auditioned” John Lydon by having him sing along with Alice Cooper’s ‘I’m Eighteen” while it played on the store’s jukebox. And that lad became Johnny Rotten. McLaren, who had a couple hits of his own, “Buffalo Gals” and “Double Dutch,” was 64. 2010
