Naltrexone is not an antagonist of alprazolam (Xanax), but flumazenil is a benzodiazipine antagonist. I suppose it could work in a two-bead abuse-deterrent system for Xanax and other benzos (Ativan, Valium, Klonipin, etc.), but like naltrexone, would only prevent crush-type abuse. I think a lot of benzo abuse takes place through oral ingestion of whole tabs, as intended, but by people for which the prescription was not intended.
