agree...shorts will manuvor the market...the only event that will squeeze them is an incredibly huge rev. contract that triple SP or a take-over...neither appear to be in the wind...
...bottom line...options help longs and shorts...
If Long, why sell on a sell-off, if you can buy puts to cover your position...shorts are not going to buy unless you force them...so if they buy calls...who cares...
...then there are covered Calls available to longs...or purchasing calls for those more risk prone...
