I think what he's saying is that there's no need for congress, declarations, constitutional amendments and things like that. All we need is the one-stop-shop of the president's inherent constitutional power.

"So what am I driving at? To prove that those who voted for Hitler in 1932 did the right thing? No! What I want to show is how easily the fear of a danger leads democracy to dictatorship."

Proud to be American

Proud to be an American

That is what was ingrained into my very being from the time I was old enough to know what it meant and what it stood for. I was proud to be an American when my Dad went off to War in WW II, I was proud to be an America moreso my uncle went off to WW II.

I was even happier to be an American when they came home safely when others they knew and fought with did not and I heard the stories of them and how great it was to be an American and make the ultimate sacrifice for your country.

Korea, it was my time to go to War and I did so voluntarily. I believed in what an American was supposed to do and be. I was able to come home again safely, Proud once again to be an American.

Then came Viet Nam and I wondered just what the Hell was going on. What was we doing there and why was there so much hate against those that did. As in many wars there are those that have no real voice in the matter. The Cannon Fodder of that Generation. We stayed there even though there was no way to Win With Honor, in fact we were getting our butts kicked as did everyone who was fighting that war.

I began thinking, is this what it is to be an American? Then my Brother went Airborne and the pride was revived. But there was a crack in my belief. Happily my brother came home safely with no more than a broken leg after Lord knows how many jumps and into places I have no idea where they are.

I got to thinking about being an American. I remembered being on a Greyhound coming home and there was another service man with me that I had served with. He happened to be black. This I had not paid a whole lot of attention to. You do not when you are depending on each other simply to stay alive.

It was one of those trips where the bus seemed to stop every few miles to pick up passengers and several times there was nothing but standing room. An old woman got on and seeing as how I was seated on the aisle I got up to offer her my seat.

In a huff she told me that she would not sit next to no nigra. I told her that that nigra had been fighting to give her the right to say what she wanted and she could Go To Hell before I’d give her a seat. She stood for the rest of her trip, seems that the other passengers had food for thought in what I had said.

Then I began thinking as I began to get a more worldly education. Men of colour who I had served with and many like them were able to go off to war and fight for their country but were still not able to vote. I thought, Is this America?

Then my son went Airborne, He taught survival on the glaciers in Alaska and then went on to be a DI. He was not the same son that I knew when he went into service when he came home. He had problems getting himself together again.

I have seen people of all race and colour come to this country and work hard to learn our ways and customs to finally become an American. No doubt they are Proud To Be Americans. I have seen the children of these people go to school to learn then bring their knowledge home and teach their parents and grandparents in return.

I was so proud of our Constitution and The Bill Of Rights, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Then I find that somewhere along the line it was beginning to slowly slip away from us. It got to where you could get all the justice you wanted if you were willing to pay for it with but a few exceptions.

Then came the rude awakening in 2000 when I saw an Election literally stopped and a President named and placed into office by the Supreme Court. I saw so much filth and illegal acts during that election. I said, where is the Law, why is this allowed to happen?

I saw a President enter the Whitehouse through the back door. I then saw the First Amendment Zones roped and fenced off. In MY America anywhere was a First Amendment Zone. What was happening? Why was nothing being said or done to right the wrong?

Then we saw program after program that helped the American people being thrown out, namely those helping the poor and elderly. Then you see monster tax cuts for the few percent of the richest in the country, you see factories and businesses leave the United States and go to where they can produce their goods for pennies on the dollar. Places like Mexico and China and Taiwan.

The thing here is that even though things are produced for pennies on the dollar they still sell for the same price as if they were still being made here with Americans doing the work. I will give credit where it is due. I have used and drove and rode Japanes cars and bikes and used Japanese tools that far exceed American in quality. At one time this was not true, back in the time when Japan was making cigarette lighters from our beer cans.

Then along came 9-11, just when the President had polls showing that his standing with the American People was going into the tank. What a political Heyday it was. All the politicians running their mouths looking for photo ops.

We have another airplane supposedly go down in a field commandeered by terrorists but the debris is scattered for miles.

Another one slams into the Pentagon, this is a Mystery Plane, small hole, big plane with no photos of it though there were cameras aimed along where it hit. Then there was the story of all the money that disappeared from the Pentagon. Seems the area that was supposedly hit is where this money was.

Then we are back to The Towers and how they magically imploded and then the same thing happened to another building that had not been hit. This was a disaster like we had never seen or experienced. Still I have heard that the Towers was more of a White elephant and they were having problems renting out space in them.

One thing I would like to know, of all the people that lost their lives that day, I would like to know how many of the upper echelon never showed up for work that day.

Now we have Homeland Insecurity, The Patriot Act. Illegal wire tapping. An illegal war against Saddam in Iraq. Thousands of people being killed including Americans. All On Lies. We are also in Afghanistan, supposedly to capture Ben Laden who was supposedly the Brain behind 9-11. But he conveniently was allowed to escape time and time again.

Since that day we have seen even more of the Constitution, According to Bush “That goddamned piece of paper”. Pretty good coming from a Goddamned Deserter. Go down the drain.

More and more we have seen Corporate America come to light.

What we once took as news on radio and TV we find that there is NO NEWS, we are getting a steady diet of Propaganda all the Bush/Rove View. You hear more and more right wing hardliners like Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity, Coulter, Fox News, Novak and on and on, Even to televangalists like Robertson and his ilk.

The sorriest thing I have heard is time after time when I hear that the men in Iraq are fighting to protect and save us. What a dose of Bull, they are doing the job for Corporate Oil and now finding out they are stuck in a Viet Nam type thing. Fighting something they cannot win. In fact they are in a country now fighting those that did not have a chance of even being there when
Saddam was in charge.

We have seen the Cluster F--- that they called Katrina. A Natural Disaster, one screw up after the other as people perished. American People that America could not Protect through Incompetence. Then we saw Bush show up for his usual Photo-Op and Praise one of the incompetents. Who happens to still be hanging around along with Chertoff of Homeland Insecurity.

What would it have been if it had been an enemy attack?

We have a couple more Elections come and go, both of them a repeat of 2000, this time with the aid of voting machines that can and were tampered with. Lost votes, disenfranchised voters. More dirty tricks and slight of hand. We end up with Bush for another four years. He helped give half the country away the first half so now he has time to get rid of the other half. All the time expecting the American to Suck It Up and do more, while they rich sit back and grin as they get richer.

I made mention earlier of the people that came to this country looking for a better way of life, those that worked and waited for years to become citizens. Now we see Mexican Illegals crossing the border illegally and marching in our streets demanding that they be given Rights, we have had to support them for years one way or another.

In this day and time if an American went to the streets like the Mexicans chances are you would see a lot of broken heads and people going to jail. We see the programs that benefited the American People stripped and done away with or cut so drastically that they are not recognizable and here we have Mexicans making demands that the American don’t even have.

We even have the politicians voting to give them what they wdemand. We even have the President of Mexico coming and going like he owns the country Rabble Rousing and not a word being said about it.

Makes me think back to how this country was formed. Firstly the Indians who originally owned the country were rounded up and slaughtered and placed in small areas where they were held, they had their way of living destroyed, their children placed in schools to forget their Native ways and learn their captors ways.

We then seen the slavery where human beings were captured like animals and transported here in chains and sold like a commodity to work the fields and if lucky to work in Massa’s house where they were treated a little better. There were familys formed and they had to stand by and watch as the families were broken up, their children being sold. If they tried to escape this kind of life they were hunted down like animals, whipped, branded like cattle or just hung,

Today 2006, many of these blacks are still not allowed to vote, in many areas they are still treated as something less than human. They are mostly amongst the very poorest in this country.
They will work and would if they could find the work, many of them who did work when the factories and businesses closed and left the country. These are the American Displaced. They can expect no help from Our Government. But they are ready to give Illegal Mexicans what they will not give Americans.

I think of in Bush's Texas where a man by the name of james Byrd was dragged to death chained to the back of a pick-up truck. The only real justice for a crime such as this is for those that did it be given the same treatment,

Want to see a real drop in the crime rate. Treat those that commit the crime just like they treated their victims. To Hell with the needle, the chair and the gas chamber.

For a person in this day and age to go without shelter, food and a chance of education is criminal, When so many have so much because of the work of those less fortunate is absolutely sickening. But then we are now living in a time when nothing is dear, when nothing matters but the Almighty Dollar, if you do not have it, Tough Shit! We are living in a time when they will vote against raising the minimum wage but vote for huge pay raises for themselves, even worse huge tax breaks for those that have it all.

We are spending billions on a war that is completely illegal monies that could be better spent. We see No Bid contractors being hired to do work, see them brought up on charges of fraud and price gouging of getting paid for work never being done and now they are being brought here to build Detention Centers to the tune of 400 million dollars. Lets see the override on this. If and when they build a fence between Mexico and the US you can bet they will be there as well.

It is time for the corrupt, incompetent, treasonous bunch to be held accountable for their actions. A time for a Court that will hand out Justice for the Crimes committed. What they have done to this country alone is a crime, compound that with the murder of Iraqis and Our Soldiers, So many crimes, so much death. To even speak of War is unmentionable coming from the mouth of one who would not go himself, to the extent that he even went AWOL and still ended up in the Whitehouse.

Proud to be American. I’m going to have to think about that for a bit. Right now with all that is going on I’m ashamed of what the Once Great Proud Country has turned into. It will take a Man that truly loves this country for what it was and can be again. It is time for the Republicans as well as the Democrats, many of whom don't know which side of the aisle to sit on to take notice, if you don't measure up, Get the Hell Gone if it takes a third party then bring it on we aren't getting much out of the two we have now. Scandals, corruption, incompetence, treason.
