in the case of Zicam it was consider innocent homeopathic, totally harmless and great for the common cold, right?...wrong, it ended up causing many to lose their sense of smell (anosmia), which is very serious if you can't smell a gas leak for example, and turns out the sense of smell is very much involved with taste, so many lost ability to taste as well
so nothing wrong with helping humanity, but the burden is great to "do no harm"
also "buyer beware"
