I did the same thing last year when the price dropped to .60. I transferred 75k shares out of 401k into an individual acct. it cost me 10k in taxes, but I'll save hundreds of thousands in the end.

I will talk to CPA try to QEF designation for my taxable account as well but would this even matter in an IRA or 401k which you don't pay any capital gains? Why did you switch from the 401k to the the taxable account?
