#252428 RE: Charlie48 #252424

You know, when Q first went on the air, we had some pretty good programming. Not brilliant, but pretty damn good. We had studio films, acquired series, documentaries, etc. We had a great cross section of programming to offer. The programming was very, very, very different than what you are seeing today.

But then, 6 or 7 months after going on the air, FO started ignoring the acquired programming altogether and focused only on the live programming. Not to put the live programming down, but we needed to keep up with both aspects. On top of that, we suddenly started seeing whole libraries of glbt programming disappearing off the market. Low and behold, LoGo was buying up the broadcast rights to everything they could get their hands on. That put us at an even worse disadvantage. Many of us tried to turn the focust to the independent market, but that was quickly dismissed by FO screaming that the quality sucked and he didn't want to put that kind of thing on the air.

Now, the only thing Q has to offer are those ancient Valcom films. And as much as anyone wants to believe... there is no such thing as "public domain" anymore. That is part of the reason those films were never shown before now. Q didn't have the broadcast rights to them.
