The bad part to a mechanical stop-- is that you could be forced out of a position because of the usual every day volatility in the markets...we see it everyday, a stock will drop 10 or 15 percent to finish the day in the green. My stops are always derived from a combination of charts, time and market conditions -- nothing is ever written in stone.
