Bob,
>>Promoters gain by stock price increases and selling at ??>>higher prices.
>>True.
So do long investors who just like to talk about the stock. Not everybody who is 'long' a OTC stock is a promoter. A community exists to DISCUSS.
>>Negative posters and bashers profit by shorting and covering >>at lower prices.
>>False.
That statement is not completely false! This is just as true of statement as the first one.
Granted, not *all* negative posters profit by a downfall, but the same is true about the success of a stock. Back when I was commenting on stocks in the good ole days, I talked positively about MANY stocks (OTC, Nasdaq, Amex) I had absolutely no position in. I also talked negatively about stocks I had no position in. Why? Because I enjoyed the discussion of stocks with my friends.
>>Negative posters are typically unable to short the stock about which they're posting.
Agree.
>>Their motivation can be and often is altruism and a certain amount of anger at seeing inexperienced "investors" getting fleeced. Many being former fleecees themselves.
Absolutely. And I have zero problems with that, as long as it's done civilly, fairly, and they have some kind of basis for their comments -- just like everybody else on the site.
