To me that is a warped way of looking at it, trying to make Gene look like he did something illegal which is not true. They were sold ILLEGALLY by Gendarme. They weren't supposed to be out there for public trading.
Whether or not they are real shares, I think the fair thing is if Gendarme would have to buy them back.
That being said, some took advantage of the situation and sold their own fake shares, which is another story completely. These are the ones are believe were stopped by the global lock. They too should have to buy those back. My guess is, it is known pretty well where those shares came from.
