#2401 RE: Lola #2397

Given past history, the answer is YES. Or maybe it depends on the identity of the stock promoter.

#2417 RE: Lola #2397

>>Let's say a stock promoter starts a thread to hype a stock and does some devious things that are not obvious to the people reading the thread.

Let's clarify here. He starts a stock-specific board? Say, Lola's Chocolate Company (LOLA)? Or he starts Bubba's Hot Penny Flips. In case #1, I wll most likely pick up on him doing devious things, such as deleting posts that shouldn't be deleted (negative ones), in which case I would oust him as Chairman. In case #2, people most likely know, by the title of the thread this guy picks a lot of stocks, he probably has a mailing list, doesn't charge folks for his picks, and has to have some reason for being all excited about this company. So most will know he's a promoter, by the way he posts and his disclosure for being paid. Maybe there is a feature we could implement/force people who are being 'paid to post' have to push and have their disclaimer attached to it?

>>Later on his victims discover what he did and start a thread to talk about it. Will you delete that thread because it is an attack on the stock promoter?

If it's an 'attack' sure. Can people not discuss things civily?

We can do what if's till we are blue in the face. Let me get to the core of my whole point on this topic.

All I am asking is for people to grow up. And handle these things like adults do.

Let's put this into perspective. You are walking down the streets of New York. Some guy sells you a watch for $5000 that you thought was solid gold with a diamond in the middle. Lola special. So you go jump in the shower with it and it falls to pieces and it turns out it's plastic. YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED FOR YOUR MONEY. What do you do? Do you go put billboards all over NYC telling people not to do business with this guy? Of course not, Lola, you are an adult. You know how to handle this situation. You go speak to your attorney, file suit against this guy for scamming you. Then, you call whatever business agency is responsible for this guy and file a complaint. What happens? He is shut down and you probably got something out of it.

But if you just put the billboards up, what happens? You caused a bunch of commotion, cost you even more money and time. You still have the plastic watch and no money from the scammer. And he's still out there sellin' that plastic!

Bottomline is that if you have been scammed and you are smart, you take it to the proper authorities and let them handle it. Otherwise, you aren't helping yourself or anybody else out there...

Hopefully, folks will see where I am going with this post and see my real-world point of view on this entire topic.
