Comb, I think that's reality. If AMD can give HP only 16,000 cpu's for now, they rather do 1 big machine than 16,000 small ones.
The fact that 1.4 Ghz "development" Opteron is on sale and others have a protective price means AMD just not ready to supply a big guy with enough volume.
Intel was really strong to force Dell making Itanium servers. They probably had sell 3 machines per week - total disaster for Dell business model.
CombJelly, it may start out that way, but if Opteron is as good as we think it is, I'm confident it'll slowly work its way into the rest. Not without some resistance, but inexorably. Paul
