You're exactly right. Human's by nature are herd creatures. Some really interesting research has been done along those lines (if one person is peering up into the sky, few take notice but if a group, say six or seven, are all peering at the same thing, everyone around them will also look up to see what's going on). It's probably wired into humans for survival, i.e., one had better take notice of environmental clues and stimuli.

Right now the group of those who understand and comprehend the potential for CTIX is small but that will change as data is released. And as you mentioned once we get a 3rd party verification, it will be off the the races.
