"And in your book, ml -- if you'll pardon the pun -- all Catholics are apostates, and the Christian professor who taught evolution at Wheaton College might as well be an aetheist, right."

serious...
Wrong, on both counts.
The catholic church is, in my opinion and by Scriptural standards, an apostate religion. I am sure there are many Christians who attend the catholic church, but to the extent that a catholic person relies on the sacraments and other teachings of the roman catholic church for their salvation, they are in danger of spending eternity in Hell because there is but one way for anyone to be saved, and that is by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior to the exclusion of anything else.
As for evolution I would give the same answer -- I am sure there are many Christians who believe in evolution even though it is an error. The key is always what do they rely upon for their salvation?? -- If they rely on the substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross to the exclusion of everything else, they are saved. God does not expect us to be without error in our beliefs, praise the Lord, but we are to avoid obvious errors if we can and we are to adhere to the minimum standards of the faith.
