From what I understand, socket T is a desktop socket, not a Xeon socket.
Re: next year will have a chipset that supports PCI-X 100 and 133MHz 64 bit PCI busses. These are required currently for most desktops/workstations that have either U320 ethernet + 15K drives or Gbit LAN controllers.
There will also be PCI-Express for those things.
