The ACA plans would have cost us $12,000 + a year more last year. And more in 2015. So, for our family it is the UNAFFORDABLE ACT------------- SUX ! And this kind of bad news is being realized by millions of middle class bag holders like myself.... And the prediction is the ACA exchange plans were priced on optimistic actuarial tables and took in adversely selected pool... when claims to premium ratios go actual... ACA premiums will skyrocket because the numbers needed have not signed up to create a balanced pool.
But the system needs as many healthy enrollees as possible to maintain a balanced risk pool that keeps premiums from jumping in 2015.
The exchanges have so far attracted considerably more older consumers, who tend to be sicker and thus more expensive to cover.
