Iran threatens BTC

US spies infiltrate Iran from the Azerbaijani territory

Iran first threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran certainly has the capacity to shut the strategic, but potentially vulnerable, Strait of Hormuz, through which a huge proportion of Middle Eastern oil flows to the rest of the world.

And now Iran is threatening the US ‘Deal of the Century’ the BTC, Baku, Tbilisi, Ceyhan, pipeline.

The U.S.--and specifically the Clinton White House--was determined to oppose any "north/south" pipelines. The White House adopted a plan, cooked up by long-time ruling class strategist Zbigniew Brzezinski, to create an "east-west" pipe which would bypass both Russia and Iran.

The U.S. intends to strip Russia of control over this oil. And the U.S. wants the Caspian oilfields to be completely independent of the Persian Gulf--to diminish the importance of Persian Gulf states in the world economy.

The U.S.-proposed pipeline would start in Baku--traveling west through Azerbaijan. It would deliberately take a detour around Armenia--a country allied with Russia. The pipeline would circle into Georgia, and then travel southwest across Turkey. Most of its length would be through the Kurdish areas of Turkey--where there has been ongoing armed struggle against the Turkish oppression of Kurds. And the pipeline would end in a port near Ceyhan on the eastern Mediterranean.

US spies infiltrate Iran from the Azerbaijani territory

Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, claims that US secret services are acting against his country, using Azerbaijani and Turkmen territory. As Azerbaijani Echo edition said the allegations came at the threshold of the visit of Ilham Aliyev to Washington.

The edition notes that several days ago Iranian sources said that in case of the US invasion Tehran will destroy Baku - Tbilisi - Ceyhan pipeline at the territory of Azerbaijan in a preemptive strike.

Other "important for the US and Europeans facilities" were also marked as targets for iranian missiles. Larijani confirmed such a possibility.

As Echo also marks, that Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is planning to visit Baku soon, following the recent visit of Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najar to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry denied allegations made by the Iranian official, as "totally ludicrous".

Officials from the Ministry of National Security (MNB) refused even to comment the words of Larijani.

To remind, AIA already reported in February of escalation of clandestine confrontation between thee US and Iranian secret services in Central Asia and Southern Caucasus.

One of the issues was the concern of the Iranians over the possibility of using by the US of the Azerbaijani, Turkmen territory.
