I think the entire republican party are a bunch of extremists. They vote in lockstep...not a lick of difference between any of them.

Stubborn Kinda Fella

By Charles P. Pierce on November 5, 2014

Give the president this. He has his story, and he's sticking to it.

It was about at the point in his press conference Wednesday, called to discuss how thoroughly his party had been dismantled on him in the balloting Tuesday night, when the president said that he still believed in what he'd said when he was elected, that there were no blue states and no red states, just the United States of America, that I wondered if I were the one who wasn't in touch with reality. What was made quite clear on Tuesday was that there certainly are red states and blue states of the American mind out there, and that the former will do almost anything to break what little power the latter still may have. People voted against their own economic interests at almost every level -- Hi there, Kansas! -- and they showed themselves more willing than ever to vote their fears, and their hatreds, and (yes) their racism. The red state of mind once again stated quite clearly that it would reward a strategy aimed at breaking the country rather than let even the palest blue state of mind govern it. The president was quite impressed that referenda raising the minimum wage were 5-0, and in red states, too. He thinks there's room to compromise there. Certainly, if he's willing to lay down the Keystone XL pipeline himself, or to set up a coal-fired electrical plant on the South Lawn. He also said he will damn well issue that executive order on immigration if Congress doesn't act before the end of the year. Sure, John Boehner's going to bring that up for a vote in this Congress, thereby guaranteeing that he will lose his Speakership when the new batch of crazy people take office in the next one. Everyone who believes that anything will happen, please stand on your head.

Thank you.

The president still seems to believe that unmoored anger is not really a force in politics. Once again, the electorate showed him how wrong he was. The president still seems to believe that calculated vengeance is not really a force in politics. Once again, the electorate showed him how wrong he was. The president still seems to believe that covert (and not so covert) racism is not really a force in politics. Or he believes he has the personal and political skills to overcome all of them with the strength of his personal narrative. Fundamentally, that's the hill he would have his administration die on. Once again, the electorate showed him how wrong he was.

And then conservative mole Jonathan Karl of ABC asked him whether or not he had made a mistake in not "reaching out" to Mitch McConnell to help end the dysfunction in the Congress. (This was nothing compared to Ed Henry from Fox, who wanted to know why we hadn't beaten ISIS yet. Sometimes, I yearn for Chris Christie.) Now this is the same as asking the arsonist to join the bucket brigade. This was the time for a little truth-telling about what actually has been going on since 2009, some of which we actually have on video. This was the time to set down a marker as to exactly how much truthless drivel he is willing to tolerate just to be allowed to be president a while longer. This was the time to Agnew Jonathan Karl into next Tuesday for having asked a question so obviously loaded with arrant bullshit. Instead, the president talked about how he wakes up every morning, thinking about how he could do his job better.

Sometimes, I really think it's me.

Peg, I listened to as much as I could, which was not enough as he went on for some time after I left that area .. lololol .. . you know, I was thinking can you just imagine what it must be like for the people around him when it is decision time? . .omg.. .. I bet he does that in his head AND with everyone else for three years .. bet he's been talking about Syria for three PLUS years!!! . .betcha! .. anyway.... I thought Charles had the best analysis of it ..Most especially after the Thank You. I was just shaking my head .. now, I'm just the monkeys with their hands over their eyes. I love Obama, however, oh never mind I'll just say this. Hillary would have been a much better president, Yeah! we know you don't like her, that's not my point! .. maybe even mittens would have been better ... yeah, I'm disgusted and ashamed. The Killer for life will be IF he does NOTHING for the dreamers as he has done NOTHING for the hundreds of thousands of dead children in Syria! then I will just look at the past 16 years as a complete void. Good for the Gays though .. good for what else? Somewhat good for the Black community, although it's all been 'by example' and not by actual help.. Whatever, I'm happy about all those things, then the rest? .... hiding in a closet .. lolololol ... ;) not really and I really really do have a lot of sympathy for him .. and WOW does he ever need it and I wonder if he even knows it ..just not in a good place with him right now .. and YET, I know I will miss him, no one can beat him in an election! .. .Not ONE democrat can win an election like Obama could ...Especially now, we have nothing to offer anyone and NOT EVEN an OBAMA who can baffle you with bull shit and confuse you with the facts ... and SING for god sakes . .!!! ...just gotta love him ... we'll miss him during election times .. we may be in for a cold long winter.. .
