Could be, as some troubled tending to extremely introverted children today would play them more than ever, and violence is a popular theme .. lol, i never played any of the shooting 'people' ones except one time when someone said, 'here have a go', shrug why not, eh .. to get any money/time value out of them you have to practice a lot, and i only ever played on pay for machines .. so that one only once .. it was a stand-up one at the pub up the road, the shooter is gone now .. Mr Do and one of the Galaga sp? ones was a favorite for me up there for awhile .. one of the bouncers and i went back and forth for the top G score .. was good value then, 1$ for 3 G games and each would take some half hour once you got tops .. it was a fun which cleared the head of conflict .. lol, you know what i mean .. like easy chats do .. on reading yours i thought of Reagan's comment re future pilots back when .. yeah, as for most things positions vary ..

VIDEO GAMES QUOTES

Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock and roll.

SHIGERU MIYAMOTO

I recently learned something quite interesting about video games. Many young people have developed incredible hand, eye, and brain coordination in playing these games. The air force believes these kids will be our outstanding pilots should they fly our jets.

RONALD REAGAN, speech, Aug. 8, 1983

Video games and militarism have an old history. Games of all sorts -- video games, board games, and games kids play in the backyard -- have historically been about conflict and warfare. Whether you're playing Chess, which is a simulated battlefield, or a game like Go, an ancient Chinese game that is also a simulated battlefield, or you're playing a board game like Risk or Axis and Allies, you're essentially at war and you're playing out military conflict.

NINA HUNTEMANN, MEF interview

Prose is an art form, movies and acting in general are art forms, so is music, painting, graphics, sculpture, and so on. Some might even consider classic games like chess to be an art form. Video games use elements of all of these to create something new. Why wouldn't video games be an art form?

SAM LAKE, interview, Apr. 25, 2004

Video games are a waste of time for men with nothing else to do.

RAY BRADBURY, Salon.com, Aug. 29, 2001

You know what's really exciting about video games is you don't just interact with the game physically -- you're not just moving your hand on a joystick, but you're asked to interact with the game psychologically and emotionally as well. You're not just watching the characters on screen; you're becoming those characters.

NINA HUNTEMANN, Game Over

You just watch. There is going to be a Columbine-times-10 incident, and everyone will finally get it. Either that, or some video gamer is going to go Columbine at some video game exec's expense or at E3, and then the industry will begin to realize that there is no place to hide, that it has trained a nation of Manchurian Children.

JACK THOMPSON, GameCore interview, Feb. 25, 2005

I think that if someone plays a video game, and then goes out and harms another human being, or themselves because of what they just saw in the video game, they were screwed up in the head long before they got their hands on a controller.

TIM BUCKLEY, GameCore interview, Mar. 4, 2005

Psychos will always be psychos; they don’t need video games to help them.

SCOTT RAMSOOMAIR, GameCore interview, Mar. 7, 2005

Video games and films are starting to look more like each other. The graphics are so spellbinding and real. People playing video games are like filmmakers—you can control the dream in your own living room. You create your own destiny; you become your own author.

ADAM RAPP, interview, Bomb Magazine, spring 2006

Most people think video games are all about a child staring at a TV with a joystick in his hands. I don't. They should belong to the entire family. I want families to play video games together.
