You are probably correct, but, if so, it would seem being an analyst is more about making sure you CYA than anything else. If they only promote a company after-the-fact of large revenue increases, then IMO they are not that noteworthy to follow.
You seem to be a lot more experienced in this than me so I will expect what you say to happen, it is just I hate seeing all these "professionals" that are so conservative but then again when you are dealing with other people's money I guess that is the name of the game.
