Re: The reason HP concentrate on the Athlon models is the fact it's the premium model and they can load up the margins on the other components. It's pretty obvious if you really think about it, they only need a basic Sempron value model in each major range.
They have Athlon 64 models in systems starting at $350. That's a pretty competitive entry point. HP would not be able to afford this if they were getting products at list price.
