#18835 RE: Zeev Hed #18832

Is that a fact, interesting ..... how much relation is there between hebrew and arabic? .... many words in english beginning in 'al' came from arabic via spanish and church latin, and at the time the arabs had the most liberal culture known to europeans, thusly the best of science, jews involved in much of it, they were throughout the arab lands, preferred that to the catholics du jour

I already stated my position on unilingual kindergarten, not in favour .... 'teach your children', as Crosby Stills used to say, it's a smart thing and improves the breed ..... we have 'french immersion' here in BC, but obviously kids get plenty of english everywhere outside it, and the programme tends to attract the best of teaching staff, so parents go to great lengths to get their kids into it ..... the smallest child can learn more than you can imagine, they just soak it up continually .... i have a story about a BC english-only five year old who spent time in BCS [the Baja south], was invited to a kinder by the neighbour's mother, at the end of three days his mother couldn't find him after school, he was out back of the ballfield chattering away with a whole group of friends

So many posts here, aaargh -g- .... fascinating thing though, language, eh .... the roots of it, it's the record of real history ... i know far more about the roots of english than of spanish, never got to see a decent book on the latter ... next time at UNAM [i go there and hang out in the library]
