Sounds like a decent place, not at all the New Jersey picture you get from watching The Sopranos -g- .... there has been debate here too, over the years, on how best to pay for education, whether the majority should come directly from land taxes, or other sources like income tax [and there is right now debate in México over the status of ejido tenure, and whether prediales on both private and ejido land should pay for a higher portion of local services than they do now, which means raising taxes to individuals and getting less Pemex funds, basically] ..... this goes on all over, how do you pay for stuff you need ..... and imho you do need education and healthcare, look at what you'd be constructing if you didn't

For well over thirty years i've been the taxpayer on a number of pieces of real estate in British Columbia, way over the average in both number and overall value, so i've paid more than average land taxes, which here pay for the majority of school costs and are therefore much higher than if they didn't ..... i've never had kids, only got married recently, we're working on that -g- .... so i've paid for the education of several kids of others ..... so it goes, i don't really have a position on that, just always accepted it as fact of life

My typing here today was in response to the suggestion that spanish be banned from lands to which it is part and parcel, a natural facet to the cultural landscape ..... such an attitude exemplifies all that is radically wrong with the stereotypical US image outside its own tight little circle - languages are bridges, not walls, and kids are much better off with two than one .... it is a wise move to mandate two minimum in all schooling, imho .... for what it's worth, i preach this to hispanos as well, at the moment i am driving it down the throat of a young mexicano we're putting through university, he doesn't like it, doesn't do well in spanish either, more of an engineering scientific aptitude, but if he is going to get anywhere in this world he must communicate, that is a basic fact of life ... and he's getting it now, in fact his steps in english are improving his spanish [it works like that for all]

How you pay for education is another matter, i'm paying my share ... just a guess, but chances are the brown folk in RB are renting from local landowners, providing them with income? ... in addition to, yes, providing a source of cheap labour ..... for now, until their children grow up and gain a fuller share in society, providing that they get an education, and thusly are able to help save on prison costs ....
